Book Launch

His Excellency, Dr. H.R Bharadwaj, the Governor of Karnataka launched the book- Tantra the science and Natya the art, a two faceted reality at the banquet hall, Raj Bhavan. After lighting the lamp, Dr.Padmaja read out the 'dedication' and 'acknowledgements' from the book and introduced the subject to the august gathering. She said that the book, a result of her doctoral thesis from Mysore University, Department of Philosophy, could enfold practitioners of art on common grounds as it is an attempt to travel within the self towards the inner cosmic vibrations along with an aesthetic outlook. It is her humble effort to become a drop of water in the vast ocean of the arts and it's esoteric aspects. The book is dedicated to her late father, the celebrated exponent of Chakyar Koothu, Sri.K.K.Rajan.

The Governor, spoke about the importance of values in our society. He emphasized that such books would help in bringing about better awareness of our ancient culture and tradition and speak a universal language of unity. He heartily complimented Dr.Padmaja's efforts. Mr.P.A.Nazareth, former Ambassador of India called Dr.Padmaja a multifaceted personality who could dance soulfully, think intellectually and serve some sections of society with compassion as well, referring to her charity wing of her institute. Prof. Suryanarayana Rao, Chairman of foundation of Vedic Sciences read out the relevance of Tantra, the supreme energy in the acts of creation ,sustenance and destruction and that this very act is the dance of Nataraja. Dr.Ramanuja, Associate Director, C-DAC was hinting that this may be a beginning for Dr.Padmaja to do further research and write more since the term Tantra has massive scope and appraised that it is a unique and deep-rooted perception of art which has hardly been taken up before.

Finally, Guru Kalyanasundaram of Rajarajeswari Kalamandir, Mumbai summed up the evening's proceedings ,thanked His Excellency and other eminent speakers at the gathering. He extolled the efforts of his student, Dr.Padmaja and said that this research would encourage more such dialogue where several esoteric subjects would become re-known to the people of India where these have been the age-old practices, getting almost extinct nowadays.
